The Spirit Still Hovers

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:1–2
Before Pentecost, before the life and ministry of Jesus, before the stories of the Old Testament, before the mountains were formed and the stars were hung in the sky, before the first breath of humanity, the Holy Spirit was present and active.
That matters. The Holy Spirit is not an addendum to the Father and the Son. He is fully God, eternal, the One who always was, is, and always will be. When Scripture says, "In the beginning, God," the Spirit is right there in the first two verses.
And look at what He finds. A world that is dark, formless, and empty. And the Spirit of God is hovering over it. Present. Powerful. Preparing to bring order to the chaos, light out of the darkness, and life to all of creation.
The same Spirit who hovered over the deep still moves today: shaping hearts, renewing minds, bringing light into dark places, leading, guiding, comforting. So if your life feels empty or chaotic or dark this morning, hear this: you are not alone. The Spirit still hovers. Not as a distant observer, but as a close Comforter and an active Creator, ready to bring God's order and peace into the formless places.
Where do you need Him to bring order, light, and life today? Invite Him there.

Closing prayer
Holy Spirit, thank You for being present from the very beginning. Thank You for not waiting for me to have it all together, but for entering the formless places in my life. Bring order to my chaos, healing to my brokenness, and peace where I am unsettled. As You brought creation to life, bring new life in me. Amen.
